Raise your hand if you've ever felt personally victimized by your 20's??

I'm not alone in the "twenty-something meltdown" - I've discussed it with friends, classmates and peers. The quarter-life crisis is somewhere in your twenties (ideally mid-twenties) where you have a bit of a breakdown about..... LIFE. You question everything! "What the HECK am I doing?" "Do I really want to do this?" "Did I make the right decision?" - Yeah that pretty much sums it all up.

Random Examples:

You're 23, graduated from University and find yourself back at home paying those student loans?

You're 25 and realize that degree you earned did NOT prepare you for the real world.

You're 27 and still haven't gotten that dream house, passport and the foreign car you planned on having?

You're 29, still single and questioning if you should freeze your eggs?

*insert curse word* Whew!

The struggle is REAL. I think most of us don't realize that the quarter-life crisis signifies GROWTH. Yes! We want to change and make better decisions, therefore we question everything! We're simply trying to figure it out. Having a "crisis"- even if it's a new one every year is totally NORMAL.

And Will Smith said it best: "Parents just don't understand." Our lives as a twenty-something in this day and age are much different from the way our parents experienced it and I don't know if their generation realizes this. Ever looked back at when your parents were your current age and asked "HOW?!" - In their mid-twenties, our parents were GROWN GROWN. Married, with kids, settled down. Fast-forward to today..... We live in completely different times.

*(But props to our parents though- HEY Momma!- I know she's reading this. Lol)*

Know This:

  • It gets better. Trust me.

It's a rough time, not a rough life. GROW through it.

  • Mistakes are meant to be made.

You're going to make mistakes. Learn from them.

  • Don't compare your life.

I wrote ALL about this one in a previous blog.

  • Talk to your friends!

You're not alone! Have a vent session with a close friend. Go to your support system!

I suspect our thirties will bring a wave of peace and stability where we'll look back at these once moments of "crisis" and say "I made it." Oh, but if not.....trust me, I'll be here to write about it.

Many blessings,

Kenn.

Scriptures for rough times:

Jeremiah 29:11

Isaiah 41:10
